Date Posted: 9/2/2025
City: Concord
Location: NH
Country: United States
Primary Category: Legal
Subcategories: Regulatory/ Policy
Type of Position:
Full-Time

DESCRIPTION & DETAILS

We are looking for an attorney who aspires to the ultimate white-hat job. Ours is a scrappy and collaborative team of six people led by Consumer Advocate Don Kreis and including a director of regional and federal affairs (who is also the Assistant Consumer Advocate), a staff attorney (the person we are hiring), two analysts, and outside consultants. Our objective is to get the best deal we can for the constituency we serve — New Hampshire’s residential utility customers in the form of safe and reliable service at the lowest possible cost while maximizing customer freedom and empowerment.

Job Responsibilities

The primary task is to maintain a caseload of matters pending at the Public Utilities Commission.

Job qualifications

The official State of NH job posting requires admission to the New Hampshire bar and at least four years of legal experience. But for an energetic and idealistic lawyer who has a gift for writing and advocacy, with a background in, and/or an affinity for, energy and utility law, we would consider seeking permission from the state’s personnel bureaucracy to bend some of these requirements.

HOW TO APPLY

Please contact the Consumer Advocate at donald.m.kreis@oca.nh.gov, preferably attaching a C.V., for information about how to submit a formal application.
