NICHOLAS HUTCHINGS

SENIOR MANAGER – REGULATORY AND POLITICAL AFFAIRS, NEXTERA ENERGY RESOURCES

Nick is a Senior Manager of Regulatory and Political Affairs at NextEra Energy Resources (NextEra). He represents NextEra in the NEPOOL Participants Process, working with stakeholders to craft and implement effective wholesale market design and policy. Nick also monitors legislative and regulatory developments in New England related to clean energy, climate change, and the electric grid.

Prior to joining NextEra, Nick served as a State Policy Advisory for ISO New England, the independent, not-for-profit entity responsible for the reliable operation of New England’s electric grid. At ISO New England, Nick was responsible for performing outreach to government officials and tracking energy policy developments in New England. In addition, he was responsible for working educate policymakers and the public on ISO initiatives related to regional system planning and wholesale electricity markets, and the challenges and opportunities facing New England’s electric grid.

Nick also previously worked in business development for Hydro-Quebec US – working to advance large transmission project in New York and New England- and served on research staff in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

Nick holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Suffolk University and an MBA from the University of Maine. He also holds a post-graduate certificate in Paralegal Studies from Curry College.
