Hybrid position based out of our Concord, MA headquarters (initially primarily office-based with potential for more remote work over time)

About Abode Energy Management

Abode Energy Management (Abode) is a Massachusetts-based energy management and consulting company with expertise in residential building science, energy efficiency, and strategic electrification.  Our collective experience in building performance, utility program implementation, community engagement, and workforce development form the foundation that enables us to deliver data-driven results for our partners, clients, and their customers. We are passionate about helping our industry succeed through a training-based, collaborative approach and are committed to building a nimble business that objectively serves all stakeholders with a focus on accountability, integrity, respect, and open communication.

Abode is focused on broadening opportunities for individuals from demographic groups that are historically underrepresented in the energy sector. We are committed to building an inclusive workplace culture where talented people of widely diverse backgrounds thrive.

Abode oversees Trade Allies (including Home Performance Contractors (HPC’s)) providing residential energy assessment and weatherization services for the utility-sponsored Mass Save program.  This position reviews documentation submitted by HPC’s and Abode inspectors at a number of points throughout the process (from initial scoping to completion) to help ensure compliance with program requirements, and ultimately, quality installations and a great customer experience.  This is a terrific opportunity for someone with hands-on experience with the Mass Save program who is looking to apply that knowledge in an independent, office-based role to assure quality installs. The right candidate for this position will be someone who gets satisfaction from paying close attention to detail but with the ability to step back and focus on the ones that matter most.

Reporting to the Field Operations Manager and working closely both with other Abode office staff and field inspectors, the Program Specialist’s responsibilities will include:

  • Technical Review of Projects

The bulk of the Program Specialist’s time will be spent reviewing documentation submitted both by HPC’s and by Abode field inspectors, focused on checking and approving work scopes and other related project documents in a timely fashion for adherence to the Mass Save program’s technical specifications, building science principles, and feasibility.  As time permits, the Program Specialist may identify trends from such reviews to help the Field Operations Manager make improvements to the overall work processes.

  • Customer Support

The Program Specialist will process change orders as needed to facilitate timely completion of Mass Save weatherization work, making sure that such changes are communicated and documented correctly.

  • Back Office Support

The Program Specialist will provide support to other office staff, with tasks ranging from routing calls and emails to the right resource to resolve issues, to scheduling inspector visits, to pulling data needed for invoicing or reporting.

Ideal candidates will bring most, if not all, of the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience working hands-on with some element of Mass Save or similar residential energy efficiency programs is highly desirable for this position.
  • Some knowledge of residential construction and/or building science is required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude with software such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Salesforce.  Comfortable finding and presenting data clearly and logically, working across software programs as needed.
  • Detail-oriented, good math skills, ability to multitask; able to methodically keep track of many moving pieces within an overall rubric of detailed program rules.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume transactional role where it was important to balance maintaining throughput while adhering to quality standards.
  • Collaborative team player, brings a positive can-do attitude.  Effective communications skills and calm, even temperament suited to dealing with customer service issues.
  • Associate’s degree or higher and/or comparable knowledge gained through relevant experience.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting salary targeted between $60K and $70K depending on relevant skills and experience.

Abode offers its employees a competitive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability Insurance, a matching 401k, and paid Parental Leave.  Employees have a flexible working schedule and generous paid time off.

To apply, please visit to submit a resume and cover letter.  Applications will not be considered without a cover letter clearly explaining why you would be a good fit for this position.  We will review applicants on a rolling basis. We look forward to hearing from you!
